Connectedness is one of the 34 Clifton StrengthsFinder talent themes. Less than 11% of people who have taken the assessment have Connectedness in their Top 5 report. Here are 7 ways to develop your Competition talent and turn it into a strength!
1. Connect Your Dots
If you’re strong in Connectedness, you naturally make connections — even obscure ones. Pay attention to the dots you connect that are unique. Relish in the way you’re able to connect people to things to events to stories.
2. Find Community
You must be connected to community. Multiple communities, in fact. You need to be connected to others, and to common causes. Moving through different communities and then connecting parts of them will develop your Connectedness.
3. Check Out
You need time to check out and tune into the inner you. That can come in the form of meditation, listening to brain entrainment music, pray. Whatever works for you to get in touch with that inside which sustains you, do it regularly.
4. Journal
Jot down new connections and experiences so they’ll sync in your brain. The very act of writing will make the connections stronger because it engages a separate part of the brain. Keeping track of your connections will develop your Connectedness talent.
5. Explore the Spiritual
You’re deeply spiritual in ways that are not necessarily religious. Explore the spiritual — the divine, the sacred, the metaphysical — whatever interests you. This is grow your sense of connection to all people.
6. Get Grounded
I’ll just say it: there are times where you create connections out of thin air! Ground yourself by listening to what people are saying around you. Most don’t sense connections the way that you do.
7. Help Others Cope
When those around you face uncertainty or unexplainable events, you’ll be able to serve them through your calm conviction of how it’s going to all work out. This reassurance often gives them hope and peace.
