What is StrengthsFinder? What a great question! — and the answer might just surprise you….
What StrengthsFinder is NOT
Before I tell you what it is, I’d like to fill you in on what it’s NOT. It’s NOT a standard personality test — dozens of which you can find on the market today. Some of these tell you whether you’re an introvert or extrovert. Others identify whether you’re logical and analytical, or verbal and expressive. Some of them use colors to help you remember which quadrant you’re in, and others use animals or letters.
Typical personality tests provide valuable information that leads to great insight about who we are. And StrengthsFinder is far more than that!
The Clifton StrengthsFinder 2.0 assessment is a personal and professional development tool that allows you to discover how you are naturally gifted and talented. Your personality shines through these talents. The results go far deeper and tell us how you get things done, how you view the world around you, how you approach problems, how you look at other people — in essence, how you do relationships, how you do your work, and how you do life.
These talents show up all over your life — at home, at work, at play. You use them in your faith community, in your business and in your civic organizations. They are your greatest source of potential strength (hence the name, StrengthsFinder).
Breaking News
And I hate to break the news to you: they’re also your greatest source of weakness. Ugh.
Yet through intentional development of your top talents, you have the opportunity to grow your talents into great strengths. When you’re operating in a talent with near perfect, positive performance is when you become a powerful force for yourself, your family, your company and your life. When a Strength is in play, you have boundless energy, are highly productive and are unstoppable.
Blindness
Unfortunately, you are blind to your talents when you’re using them. You don’t even notice that you’re doing them, nor do you accept how awesome you are. In fact, it’s very likely that you consider some of your natural gifts and talents as weaknesses. If you’re like most of us, you judge and compare and always come up lacking.
Wouldn’t you like to stop that? Would you like to become the best version of yourself?
If so, then join the StrengthsFinder movement! Nearly 16,000,000 people like you have already discovered their talents and strengths! You can find the assessment at the Gallup Strengths Center.
